‘Punch’ Finds Home at Brevard Zoo After Being Found Stranded at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station

‘Punch’, a juvenile green sea turtle, was brought to the Brevard Zoo on August 12 after stranding at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station with an older laceration to their carapace. Punch has great body condition and arrived at the Brevard Zoo with flipper tags, which they traced back to Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. (Brevard Zoo image)

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – ‘Punch’, a juvenile green sea turtle, was brought to the Brevard Zoo on August 12 after stranding at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station with an older laceration to their carapace.

Punch has great body condition and arrived at the Brevard Zoo with flipper tags, which they traced back to Gumbo Limbo Nature Center.

The Brevard Zoom team was able to discover that during their five-month stay at the facility, Punch had their carapace fracture repaired and their FP tumors removed.

Fortunately, this sea turtle did not strand with any new Fibropapillomatosis tumor growth.
