BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey announced on Monday the arrests of two suspects who were arrested for an animal cruelty incident after they left a puppy in a hot vehicle outside the Melbourne Square Mall.

The suspects are identified as Brandon McLaren and Mecaila Paige Johnson.

Police say the investigation began when an alert citizen noticed a puppy in distress inside a hot vehicle.

The puppy survived due to the fast actions of the responding BCSO deputy and alertness by a local citizen.
