Orville Susong: 'Where Are They Now?'

WATCH: Former Cocoa Tiger Clay James talks with Orville Susong in the debut of Susong’s “Where Are They Now?” show. James is currently the long-snapper on the University of Miami’s football team. He talks about his time at Cocoa High School, his time in Coral Gables and much more in this exclusive interview.

EDITOR’S NOTE: One of the founding members of the Friday Night Locker Room, Orville Susong, recently created a new show entitled, “Where Are They Now?”

Susong will be interviewing former high school students, some of whom he covered during his 22 years of broadcasting, as part of the show. The title of the show is self-explanatory. He will be tracking down individuals, finding out where they are, and what they are doing.

When asked about the thought process in putting the show together Susong said, “There are so many young people we have come into contact with over the years, and when talking to others, the question I hear all the time is, I wonder where they are?”

Susong released his first show, with former Cocoa High School student/athlete Clay James as his guest. James is currently a student on the University of Miami football team and is doing well both athletically and academically.

Stay tuned to Space Coast Daily to find out who Susong’s next guest will be, and where they are now!

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Former Cocoa Tiger, and current University of Miami long snapper Clay James was among the players selected to the watch list for the 2021 AFCA Good Works Team.

Honorees for the Good Works team have stories of exemplary community service, alongside their academic dedication and impact on and off the field.

The Cocoa native leads the Hurricanes in community service hours and has spent his time working with the Grove Food Pantry in Coconut Grove, the Community Fridge Organization in Overtown, the Lotus House, the Miami Mission Homeless Shelter, and several other organizations.

A voting panel will select a 22-member team with players who demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities.

James, who has served as the team’s starting long snapper the past two seasons, helped the Hurricane excel on special teams last year.

Along with James, the Hurricanes featured the nation’s top special teams duo in 2020; Jose Borregales won the Lou Groza Award as the top kicker in FBS, while Lou Hedley was a finalist for the Ray Guy Award honoring the nation’s top punter.

James became the fifth Hurricane recognized with preseason honors.
