Rankings After Week 3 Action

Here are the Brevard County High School football power rankings through three weeks.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Space Coast Daily–Friday Night Locker Room 2021 Brevard County High School Football Top 5 Power Rankings have been released after three weeks of action.

The Satellite Scorpions (3-0) and Palm Bay Pirates (2-0) climb into the top five after defeating Melbourne and Harmony, respectively.

The rankings are comprised from a 15-member committee in Brevard County and averaged out by each committee member’s weekly Top 5 rankings list.

1. COCOA TIGERS (2-1)

The Cocoa Tigers were put to the test early in the season with three tough matchups against teams such as Vero Beach, Osceola, and Venice. Cocoa managed to win two out of three games heading into their week 4 bye. (Anthony Pelt image)

All three of Cocoa’s games have been against the toughest opponents that any team in Brevard County has faced this season.

Every one of Cocoa’s games this season has been decided by one point in three games. The Tigers clearly have the best wins (Vero Beach, Osceola) of any Brevard County team thus far.

2. ROCKLEDGE RAIDERS (3-0)

Rockledge starts the season with a statement victory against the Viera Hawks on their home turf and put up a shutout victory against the Eau Gallie commodore in week 3.

Based on the strength of the schedule, it’s difficult to put them over Cocoa despite an undefeated record so far.

3. MERRITT ISLAND (3-0)

Merritt Island’s defense has played stellar so far only allowing six points in three games. They are also coming off back-to=back shutouts against Sebastian River and Astronaut.

4. SATELLITE (3-0)

Satellite High School is easily the most deserving of their leap into the top 5 power rankings after the start they’ve had to this season. (BPS image)

Satellite is easily the most deserving of their leap into the top 5 power rankings after the start they’ve had to this season. After making the transition from being independent, Coach Kimmey and his scorpions have been on fire.

Scorpions are back on the county’s radar after a big upset victory against the Eau Gallie Commodores. Satellite heads to Titusville this week after a 13-7 win against Melbourne.

5. PALM BAY PIRATES (2-0)

Pirates take the number five spot but not by much. Palm Bay’s only played in two games and have not been put to the test this season until their upcoming matchup against Merritt Island.

Pirates take the number five spot by a slim margin. Despite only playing two games, Palm Bay will face their toughest test this season with their upcoming matchup Friday Night against Merritt Island on Space Coast Daily TV.

The Pirates have one of the more talented rosters and coaching staffs in the county and have displayed a potential resurgence within the prestigious football program.

Just missed the cut:

■ Viera Hawks (1-1)

■ Bayside Bears (2-0)

■ Holy Trinity (3-0)
