BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputy Hudson Davis and  BCSO Lt. Will Haggerty recently reunited a family with their lost pet, which was rescued from heavy traffic on Wickham Road.

Lt. Haggerty was driving down Wickham Road when he saw a dog on the roadway in heavy traffic and almost being struck by several vehicles.

He was able to get the dog out of the roadway and safely into his patrol car and then began to find the lost pet’s owner.

With the dog now safe, Lt. Haggerty contacted the Melbourne Police Department to find out if anyone had reported the dog missing in that area.

A short time later, Melbourne’s Communication Officer found a Facebook post about the missing dog, “Capone” and Lt. Haggerty took it from there by contacting the owners and making arrangements to reunite “Capone” with his family.

I tell people all the time that I am surrounded by an amazing team of men and women who do amazing things every day to protect our community, and this incident is another perfect example of just how true that statement really is!
