TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA – First District Court of Appeal ruled on Friday to reinstitute a stay after Circuit Judge John Cooper lifted the stay on Wednesday over ban on mask mandates in schools

Judge Cooper claimed Gov. Ron DeSantis overreached his constitutional authority by way of an executive order on July 30 aimed at preventing school mask mandates.

“No surprise here – the First District Court of Appeal has restored the right of parents to make the best decisions for their children,” said Gov. Ron DeSantis

“I will continue to fight for parents’ rights.”

The decision is a major setback for a group of parents who filed the lawsuit and argued that children would be harmed by DeSantis’ executive order.
