Florida Tech Golf Place 11th at Jay Jennison Cup, Yannick Koehnen Led Panthers

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech golf placed 11th at the Jay Jennison Cup this week.

The tournament took place at the Slammer & Squire par-72, 6,939-yard course at World Golf Village where there were 15 other schools competing.

Six of those schools are Sunshine State Conference members, including No. 3 Lynn, No. 4 Barry, Tampa, Rollins, Eckerd, and Embry-Riddle.

Barry won the event finishing with a team score of -27 (837) followed by host Flagler in second-place at -24 (840). The Panthers ended the tournament with a score of +12 (876).

Yannick Koehnen led the way for the Crimson & Gray at T-16 after three rounds shooting a -3 (72-70-71). Derek Sanderson finished T-34 at +2 (76-72-70). Nicholas Velasquez rounded out the top three for Tech ending T-38 at +3 (71-78-70).

Sanderson paced the Panthers with 15 birdies followed by Koehnen with 12. Kyle Freudeman had the lone eagle for Florida Tech.

The Panthers will be back in action for the Shark Invitational at Grande Oaks Golf Club in Davie, Florida on Oct. 4-5.
