OBITUARY: World War II Veteran Bill Pain of Melbourne Passes Away at Age 94

Bill Paine, 94, was born in Peabody, Massachusetts November 14, 1926, and passed away on September 16, 2021, in Melbourne, Florida. Bill is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and Korea. Before moving to Florida in 1955 he was employed with the FBI in Washington, DC.

Bill proudly served the Space Coast Credit Union in many capacities from Chairman of the Supervisor Committee to Board of Directors.

BREVARD COUNTY • INDIALANTIC, FLORIDA – Bill Paine, 94, was born in Peabody, Massachusetts November 14, 1926, and passed away on September 16, 2021, in Melbourne, Florida.

Bill is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and Korea. Before moving to Florida in 1955 he was employed with the FBI in Washington, DC.

In Florida, he was employed by Boeing at Patrick Air Force Base and later for Rockwell. After retiring he served as a consultant for 19 years with Palm Bay Police Department.

Bill proudly served the Space Coast Credit Union in many capacities from Chairman of the Supervisor Committee to Board of Directors.

Brevard County held a special place in his heart and he volunteered numerous hours to benefit the community. Bill was a member of Melbourne Masonic Lodge 143, Beach Lodge 354, honorary member of Merritt Island Lodge 353, and a charter member of AZAN Shrine Temple.

He was a lifetime member and past commander of VFW Post 8191 Melbourne.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years. Irene C. Paine; son, William H. Paine, Jr. (Mary Linda); daughters, Shirley Ellen Paine (Frank), Linda McClain (Jim), Mary Ann Sperando (Daniel); 6 grandchildren & 6 great-grandchildren.

Friends offering expressions of sympathy are asked to consider the Shriners Hospital.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 25, from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a service to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home.
