BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Lakeisha Sonyae Mitchell, 41, of Titusville, was charged Friday with First-Degree Murder in connection to the death of a 4-year-old child who was in her care.

According to the Titusville Police Department, at approximately 5:40 p.m. on August 23, officers responded to a report of an unresponsive child at a residence on the 1000 block of Queen Street.

The child was then transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Mitchell was taken into custody at the home that evening without incident and was initially charged with Aggregated Child Neglect with Great Bodily Harm and booked into the Brevard County Jail without bond.
