Suspect Arrested For Attempted Burglary In Merritt Island After Concerned Citizen Calls For Help

Brevard County Sheriff’s Office arrested Teddy King, 28, on Thursday for attempted burglary at Brevard Travel Service in Merritt Island.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect on Thursday for attempted burglary at Brevard Travel Service in Merritt Island.

The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Teddy King from Merritt Island.

Authorities are investigating if this could be the suspect who has carried out other burglaries across Brevard.

Deputies received a call around 5:30 a.m. from a concerned citizen who heard loud banging at the rear of the business.

Deputies responded to the business and observed King on the roof of the business after he saw the deputies.

A short foot pursuit ensued through the neighborhood, only to be captured as he attempting to leave the area in a vehicle.

“The methods of King’s actions are very similar to several other burglaries that have occurred throughout the county,” said Tod Goodyear of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators are working to determine if King is responsible for any other burglaries.

King’s criminal history shows he served sentences in the Florida Department of Corrections for previous felony convictions.

“I can’t thank our community enough for helping us fight crime,” said Sheriff Wayne Ivey.

“This concerned citizen’s efforts may have helped solve other law enforcement agencies who have experienced similar burglaries. An outstanding job by all involved!”

King has been charged with Attempted Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, Resisting Arrest without Violence and Felony Driving While License Suspended.

He is currently at the Brevard County Jail on $6,500 Bond.
