BREVARD COUNTY • MIMS, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting in Mims that involved a homeowner shooting two masked home invaders on Thursday.
The two home invaders have died after being shot by a male occupant inside the home.
They have been identified as 20-year-old Alvin Smalls of Titusville, and 18-year-old Amir Lynn from Mims.
The investigation has revealed the shooting happened on 1600 block of West Court near US-1 around 12:23 p.m. after two men in masks entered the home to commit a robbery.
Once inside the residence, the Smalls and Lynn confronted the adult residents in the house which resulted in a physical confrontation.
One of the male residents inside the house then grabbed a gun and shot both intruders, according to deputies.
One of the suspects died at the scene, while the other died at the hospital.
At this time, the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the names of the victims in this incident after it appears the male occupant was defending himself by shooting both home invaders in masks.

The investigation is ongoing and upon completion will be forwarded to the State Attorney for review.
