Brevard Deputy Saves Baby Raccoon Wandering On Busy Road In Merritt Island

Deputy Sarah Ouellette saves baby raccoon on N. Tropical Trail

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Earlier this week, East Precinct Deputy Sarah Ouellette was flagged down by a concerned Merritt Island citizen who observed a small baby raccoon near the roadway at N. Tropical Trail and Sawyer Ave., in Merritt Island.
The citizen was deeply concerned that the baby raccoon was going to be hit by a car and fortunately saw Deputy Ouellette in the immediate vicinity.
Deputy Ouellette quickly responded to the area and was able to locate the baby raccoon who was in fact about to wander out into the busy roadway on N. Tropical Trail.
Deputy Ouellette was able to keep the baby raccoon from the roadway and took it into safety to protect it from harm.
After a diligent search for the raccoon’s family, the baby was turned over to the Brevard County Animal Services Unit to make sure it was kept safe from harm.

Deputy Ouellette did a great job at making sure the baby raccoon was safe and in demonstrating that our team members truly work hard every day to protect everyone and everything in our community!!
