14-Month-Old Child From Melbourne Dies After Heat Related Illness, Police Investigating

Melbourne Police are investigating the death of a 14-month-old child after a heat related illness. 

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police are investigating the death of a 14-month-old child after a heat related illness. 

Police say the mother arrived with the child at Melbourne Fire Station 71 on Thursday around 1:18 p.m. after the child was in medical distress.

Upon initial examination, rescue personnel determined the child was suffering from a heat related illness.

Rescue personnel transported the child to Holmes Regional Medical Center.

Once at Holmes Regional, doctors had the child flown to AdventHealth for Children in Orlando for further treatment.

The child died on Saturday.

The circumstances surrounding the child’s death are currently being investigated by Melbourne Police Detectives. Anyone with information should contact Detective Dennis Higgins 321-608-6467.
