Officials announced Thursday morning that State Road 407 has been reopened in both directions between State Road 528 and I-95 after a 300 acre brush fire shutdown the highway on Wednesday.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Officials announced Thursday morning that State Road 407 has been reopened in both directions between State Road 528 and I-95 after a 300 acre brush fire shutdown the highway on Wednesday.

Rescue personnel say the fire has grown to 300 acres on Wednesday.

Officials stated Thursday morning that the fire is 90-percent contained.

Florida Forest Service and Brevard Fire Rescue crews have been battling the fire since early Wednesday near the area of Golfview and Flora Vista in Port St. John.

Brevard County Sheriff’s Office says about 48 structures were threatened by the fire after the blaze came within 100 yards of the structures.

Around 5 p.m., officials say there is no longer a threat to any those structures.
