Incoming U.S. Coast Guard Port Canaveral Commander Capt. Mark Vlaun Welcomed By Propeller Club

Capt. Vlaun relieved Capt. Todd Wiemers in a Change of Command ceremony held at Naval Station Mayport
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Incoming Coast Guard Sector Commander and Captain of the Port for Jacksonville and Port Canaveral, Capt. Mark Vlaun, was introduced during the Propeller Club of Port Canaveral’s recent May luncheon at Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill.
Capt. Vlaun relieved Capt. Todd Wiemers in a Change of Command ceremony held at Naval Station Mayport on Tuesday, May 14.
Capt. Wiemers has been selected for promotion to Rear Admiral and is moving to Washington D.C. for his next assignment as Assistant Commandant of the Coast Guard Reserve.
Port Canaveral Marine Safety Detachment Supervisor LCDR Jason Kling took the opportunity at the luncheon to give special recognition to CWO4 David Ladomirak, CO of Coast Guard Station Port Canaveral.
He thanked Ladomirak for his outstanding leadership of the station.
Station Canaveral and the Marine Safety Detachment work with the Propeller Club to support the Rockledge High School HELM Maritime Studies program by providing field trip, career shadow opportunities and classroom speakers.
Personnel from the local Coast Guard units also support other Propeller Club initiatives, including Keep Brevard Beautiful clean-up days at the Port.
