‘Learning About Libraries’ Ride With Assistant County Manager Jim Liesenfelt Was Standing Room Only

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Wednesday’s “Learning About Libraries” Ride With Jim event was standing room only and offered participants an opportunity to share coffee and conversation with those who help shape the future of Brevard County.
Participants were picked up at the Brevard County Government Center by a Space Coast Area Transit bus.
After riding to a nearby Bagel 13, participants then chatted over coffee and a bagel with Assistant County Manager Jim Liesenfelt and Brevard County Libraries Director Jeff Thompson.
During today’s “Learning About Libraries” event, Assistant City Manager Jim Liesenfelt shared the following information:
• There are 17 Brevard County Libraries with over four million patron visits annually, who check out almost six million items during the course of a year.
• The library system currently has over 1.2 million volumes in its collection.
• The libraries also own over 112,000 DVD and video recordings and more than 61,900 sound recordings.
• Each library maintains special collections for the physically and visually handicapped.
• Every library has computers with internet access that patrons with a Brevard County Library card may use at no charge.
The remaining 2019 Ride With Jim schedule includes:
• August 28: Housing & Human Services
• October 30: Mobility Week & Transit
