BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps announced the selection of Chief Petty Officer Ethan Goswick, of Cocoa Beach, to represent the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps in the International Exchange Program to Sweden in July.

Having attended the inaugural USNSCC Senior Leadership Academy in Arlington, VA in the Spring of 2019 – Goswick is participating in the flagship program of the Sea Cadet Program.

Goswick is a member of the Courageous Division in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

He is an outstanding scholar, an Eagle Scout and a member of the JROTC. Goswick is well on his way to leadership roles beyond high school.

The Commanding Officer from Courageous Division attributes his development of the unit’s team environment and leadership to the sharp direction of Chief Goswick.

Escorting this exchange to Sweden is LTJG JoAnn Taft, NSCC. She has been active with the Sea Cadet Corps for over six years and has recently transferred from Fort Spokane Battalion and Training Ship Spokane in Washington State as the Commanding Officer to Top Hatters Squadron in Norfolk, VA.

Chief Petty Officers Ethan Goswick of the Courageous Division, Isaiah Lopez, and Olivia Troisi of the McCampbell Battalion of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, were recently selected to attend the program’s Senior Leadership Academy in Arlington, Virginia.

Two of over 150 cadets from around the nation were selected for this International Exchange Program with Sweden. Highly competitive, each cadet must exceed the USNSCC standards of conduct and are considered the best of the best.

The International Team will meet cadets from Sweden, Hong Kong, Canada, and the United Kingdom. In the spirit of international partnership and camaraderie, they will train on land and water, sharpening their skills in sailing, seamanship, and survival.

This prestigious event would not be possible without the Swedish Sea Cadet Corps Association’s hard work and planning.

The International Exchange Program is held in several countries each year with the opportunity for cadets to not only experience cadet life overseas but for them to connect with other youth in similar programs with different cultures and languages. It is the pinnacle of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps Program.

Sea Cadets train year-round to develop communication skills, team building, leadership, physical and theoretical education to assist them with their further goals either in academia or in the workforce.

A Sea Cadet will gain confidence, determination, drive, and purpose to complete tasks set before them by their shipmates. The USNSCC “leads the way” in youth programs by offering skills training and hands-on work experiences.
