BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and the NRA taught school resource deputies how to prevent active shooters on school campuses and keep each student in Brevard County safe through a week-long “School Shield” training program.

On Monday, I had the pleasure of opening the training for 21 Brevard County School Resource Deputies and Officers that are taking part in a free week-long NRA School Shield Program that provides in-depth training in prevention and response to Active Shooters on school campuses.

The School Shield Training Program is a week-long class that is taught across the country and is designed to provide expert training in the prevention of active shooters.

In addition to trying to prevent a critical situation on our school campuses, the training also incorporates a tactical response to school shootings so that we can do everything possible to protect our most precious of citizens, our children!

I would like to personally thank everyone for attending this week’s class and also the School Shield Instructors who traveled to Brevard County in order to provide this extremely valuable training at no cost to our agency or attendees.
