Florida Tech Softball’s Melanie Murphy Tabbed FPN All-American Honorable Mention

Murphy recorded 25 wins and a 1.64 ERA this season

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech Senior Melanie Murphy added another piece of silverware to her mantle as the pitcher was bestowed FastPitch News All-America honors. 

The Melbourne native garnered a spot as an honorable mention.

This is Murphy’s second All-American honor of the season and her career as she also was named National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American third team as an at-large pitcher.

Murphy earned other individual recognition this year as she was twice named Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week, once FastPitch News Pitcher of the Week and once Louisville Slugger / NFCA Pitcher of the Week.

Other postseason awards she received were first-team All-SSC honors plus first-team DII Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and NFCA All-South region.

Murphy finished her illustrious softball career with a special season for Florida Tech as she recorded 25 wins and a 1.64 ERA.

She also had 141 strikeouts, four saves and 21 complete games in her 40 appearances. She also tossed her first collegiate perfect game against then-No. 3 North Georgia.

Melanie and the rest of the Panthers also clinched their first-ever Sunshine State Conference championship and she was the pitcher against Mississippi College that punched the team’s ticket to its second-ever Super Regional berth.
