Shaquille O’Neal Will Debut ‘Big Chicken’ Restaurant at Sea on Carnival Cruise Lines’ Mardi Gras

Big chicken will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner menus based on O’Neal’s family traditions

NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal will debut his second Big Chicken restaurant at sea aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s newest and most innovative cruise ship, the Mardi Gras, which will homeport at Port Canaveral beginning in October 2020.

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA  – NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal will debut his second Big Chicken restaurant at sea aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s newest and most innovative cruise ship, the Mardi Gras.

The 180,000-ton Mardi Gras will homeport at Port Canaveral’s new Cruise Terminal 3 starting in October 2020.

Big Chicken is the brainchild of O’Neal, who was named Carnival’s Chief Fun Officer. The ocean-going restaurant will offer all-inclusive breakfast, lunch and dinner menus based on O’Neal’s family traditions.

The new Cruise terminal 3, dubbed the “Launch Pad,” will be home of the 180,000-ton XL-class Mardi Gras, the cruise line’s newest and most innovative ship, beginning in 2020.

Port Authority Commissioners and the Port’s leadership team joined Carnival Cruise Line executives for the ceremonial groundbreaking at the project site as NASA’s “Spaceman” planted a Carnival Cruise Line flag on a simulated lunar landscape.
