Tropical Storm Barry Forms in the Gulf, National Hurricane Center Monitors Disturbance In Atlantic

Hurricane Season runs until November 30
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Tropical Storm Barry has formed in the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday, while another disturbance has developed off the coast of Africa, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).
The forecast track by NHC has Barry striking Louisiana as a potential hurricane by the time it reaches landfall in Louisiana on Saturday.
Currently, Barry’s max sustained winds have registered at 40 mph and is moving to the west at 5 mph.
A Hurricane Watch has been issued for Louisiana, which means hurricane conditions are possible within the area in the next 48 hours.
Storm-surge flooding is also likely, specifically east of Barry’s track.
DISTURBANCE 1
In addition to Tropical Storm Barry, National Hurricane Center is also monitoring a disturbance that has formed off the coast of west Africa in the Atlantic on Thursday.
The tropical wave is located about a several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Experts project some slight development with the system in the next day.
However, environmental conditions are not ideal for further development over the weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center.
