Tropical Storm Barry Draws Closer To Louisiana With Possibility To Become Hurricane

Hurricane Season runs until November 30
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Tropical Storm Barry is drawing closer to southeastern Louisiana as experts continue to project Barry to become a hurricane by the time it makes on landfall on Saturday.
A Hurricane Warning has been issued from the Intracoastal City to Grand Isle.
As of 2 p.m., Barry is carrying max sustained winds of 65 mph and moving west-northwest at 7 mph.
Dangerous storm surge is expected from the Intracoastal City to Biloxi and around Lake Pontchartrain. National Hurricane Center is projecting some areas could see as much as 3-6 feet in storm surge.
“On the forecast track, the center of Barry will approach the central or southeastern coast of Louisiana through tonight and then make landfall over the central Louisiana coast on Saturday,” said a spokesperson with the National Hurricane Center.
“After landfall, Barry is expected to move generally northward through the Mississippi Valley through Sunday.”
DISTURBANCE 1
National Hurricane Center is continuing to monitor another disturbance in the Atlantic located a few hundred miles from the Cabo Verde Islands. Experts say they expect the disturbance to strengthen further today and tomorrow.
On Sunday, forecasters project the disturbance to weaken as conditions are not favorable for further development.
National Hurricane Center gives the disturbance a 20-percent chance at further development over the next five days.
