Melbourne's Sherri "Lynnie" France has been inducted into the USSSA National Softball Hall of Fame.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Sherri “Lynnie” France, a senior recreation supervisor for the city of Melbourne, has been inducted into the USSSA National Softball Hall of Fame.

During her 23-year career with the city, France has traveled on weekends throughout the United States playing for teams competing in amateur slow-pitch softball.

At the hall of fame induction ceremony last fall at the Omni Orlando Resort in ChampionsGate, France was honored with permanent recognition and a display in the USSSA National Hall of Fame in Kissimmee.

She played on USSA World Series champions with UPI/TPS in 1995, UPI/Kinder in 1998, the ABP/Kinder/Sharks in 2000, the Armstrong Ceiling/Lady Rebels in 2003, Long Haul/Enough Said/Easton/Tanel in 2006, and the Kinder Sharks in 2009.

France was named to the All-World Series teams in 1998 and in 2009 and was honored as the USSSA’s World Series Most Valuable Player in 1995 and 2000 and is known for her power batting skills and defensive prowess.

France grew up in Melbourne and played softball and basketball for Melbourne High School. She played college basketball at Florida Tech.

Her current job duties include overseeing the Grant Street Community Center in Melbourne.
