BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Richard M. Levine, MD, Principal Investigator for the Clinical Trial Department of Space Coast Cancer Center, has co-authored “Quality of Care in Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer,” which was published in the Journal of Oncology Practice.

Dr. Levine collaborated with the Moffitt Cancer Center and 10 other oncology practices in Florida in the article, which reviewed the quality of care lung cancer patients received in the State of Florida.
Space Coast Cancer Center was selected because of their previous participation in Moffitt’s Florida Initiative of Quality Cancer Care, as well as their national certification in quality by the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Best Doctors of America
Dr. Levine, President of Space Coast Cancer Center, and a respected physician in the community since 1983, has been recognized as a member of “Best Doctors of America” on three occasions. A Board Certified Medical Oncologist, Dr. Levine has earned this honor in which physicians are nominated by their peers in their specialty.
“Best Doctors” is a national organization whose mission is to recognize physicians who provide state of the art cancer care following evidence-based medicine and using national guidelines.

The physicians and staff at Space Coast Cancer Center are affiliate members of Moffitt Cancer Center, providing radiation oncology, diagnostic imaging, chemotherapy, clinical trials and quality assurance studies.
Space Coast Cancer Center is the first practice in the state of Florida to participate in the American Society of Clinical Oncology Quality Assurance Practice Initiative.
As one of five Moffitt affiliates in Florida that participate in the Florida Initiative for Quality Cancer Care, Space Coast Cancer Center was the first practice in Florida – and the second in the United States – to collaborate with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center implementing and monitoring clinical pathways for patients’ chemotherapy treatments that are compliant with the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Guidelines.
Dr. Levine is a Past President of the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology, Parrish Medical Center Medical Staff, the Brevard County Unit of the American Cancer Society and is a member of several area and state advisory boards.
