Palm Bay Pirates Blank Seminole Ridge

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Pirates built a big lead in the second half and then held off Seminole Ridge of Palm Beach County 17-0 in a spring prep football game at Palm Bay High School on Friday night.

Leroy Berry ran for a 19-yard score as Palm Bay led 7-0 with 11:21 left to play in the first half of the game.

Seminole Ridge could not rally back against the Pirates.

The Hawks were was about to score before the second half ended, but Caleb Alves of Palm Bay stopped the drive with an interception.

“I’m proud of the way we played tonight,” said Palm Bay coach Dan Burke. “There is always room to improve.”

Alves snared a 47-yard pass at 8:54 of the second quarter from Brian Fallace for another Palm Bay TD.

“Caleb Alves is the undisputed leader of our team and showed it in this game,” Burke said. “He still needs a lot of work on some aspects of his game, but he’s stepped up and we expect big things from him this fall.”

Palm Bay is bidding to make a 17th consecutive playoff appearance this fall under Dan Burke.
