Nine Panthers Look to Improve in Summer Ball

MELBOURNE• Florida— Florida Tech has placed nine players on collegiate baseball summer leagues throughout the country.

Brock Bontrager and Brian Flynn ventured all the way to Oahu, Hawaii to play in the Hawaiian League.
Bontrager, a rising junior outfielder, is playing for the Oahu Paddlers.

Flynn, who is entering his senior season at catcher, is suiting up for the Hawaii Aliis.

Jason Boyer and Kevin Wortman stayed local to play for the Sanford River Rats of the Florida League.
Boyer is embarking on his senior year this fall and his second with the Panthers as a starting pitcher.

Wortman completed his freshman season as one of the team’s outfielders this spring.
Scott Carcaise and James Mannara are competing in the Cape Cod League in Massachusetts.

Carcaise, a rising junior first baseman, is seeing time with the Brewster Whitecaps.

Mannara, a soon-to-be senior, is appearing in relief for the Cotuit Kettleers.
After concluding his sophomore season as a right fielder, Jimmie Koch is playing for the Peninsula Oilers of the Alaska League.

Cody Lewis wrapped up his first season in a Panther uniform this spring as a junior transfer from Central Florida Community College.
He is competing for the Haymarket Senators of the Valley League in Virginia.
Fresh off his freshman campaign, right-hander Dylan Reid is a member of the Utica Brewers, which are a member of the New York Collegiate Baseball League.
