BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA— Brevard Community College head golf coach Jamie Howell has set a six-event tournament schedule for the fall season.

BCC, which advanced to the NJCAA national tournament in May for the 10th time in Howell’s 10-year tenure, opens the fall season at the Wallace State Fall Invitational in Cullman, AL on Sept. 10-11.

The Titans also will travel to Lake Wales for the Sept. 23-24 Webber Warrior Invitational, Albany, GA for the Oct. 8-9 Darton Fall Invitational, Pendelton, SC for the Oct. 22-23 NJCAA District 4 Preview, and Alexander City, AL for the Nov. 12-13 Central Alabama Fall Invitational.

BCC’s lone home event will be the Nov. 2-4 Collegiate Players Cup against Florida Tech.

“The Fall schedule for men’s golf provides an opportunity for new student athletes to get their feet on the ground as they adjust to competing at the collegiate level while balancing an academic schedule more demanding than high school,” Howell said.

“It is an effective way for a coach to surmise who can handle the rigors of travel and competition as well as witnessing firsthand how each athlete handles any adversity they will encounter during the fall term.

“For returning sophomores it is an opportunity to step up and provide leadership with actions and offer guidance to freshman teammates who may be struggling while attempting to adjust to the collegiate athletic lifestyle.”

Competing this fall for BCC will be sophomores Blake Biggs, Keith Greene and Anthony Skirk and freshmen Nelson Apsey, Kyle Benson, Tyler Howes, Arthur Leonard, Garrett Malita, Brett Maue, Nick Maynard and Max Menkes.

BCC finished in the top 10 in every tournament in which it competed in 2011-2012 including five that featured four-year schools. It was eighth at the national tournament.
