Advances To Southeast Regional

BRADENTON, FLORIDA – Rockledge defeated East Bay Little League 6-4 Monday afternoon to win the state Juniors baseball Little League championship.

Blake Beyel started for Rockledge and went 5 innings, allowing 4 runs.  Gavin Spinneweber then took the mound and shut out East Bay for the final innings of the game.

Drew Parrish and Michael Hall had doubles for Rockledge.

With the win, Rockledge advances to compete in the Southeastern Regional Tournament in Greenville, S.C.

Rockledge will meet Vestavia Hills Little League, the state champion of Alabama, at 9 a.m. Friday in an opening round pool play game.

Also in Rockledge’s pool in the regional are Southwest Forsyth of North Carolina and East Marietta of Georgia.

The top two teams in the pool qualify for the regional semifinals Aug. 6.

The Southeastern Regional Championship Game will be played at 6 p.m. Aug. 7 in Greeneville.

If Rockledge win the Southestern Regional title, they will clinch a berth in the Little League Juniors Baseball World Series in Taylor, Mich. opening Aug. 12.

Rockledge knocked off Viera/Suntree 8-7 in 10 innings Sunday to reach the Florida title game against East Bay.

At the Majors baseball state semifinals in DeBary on Sunday, Merritt Island fell to Plant City 17-2 and was eliminated from contention.

In Dunedin, Rockledge was defeated 8-3 by Dade City in the state senior baseball semifinals Sunday and was eliminated.

South Beaches will compete later this week as the host team in the Southeastern Regional Senior Baseball Tournament at Viera Regional Park.

  1. my wife and I followed your team at the Junior League World Series. We live about 10 miles from Taylor. Your team was a class act both playing the game of baseball and their behavior on and off the team. We enjoyed the enthouism and support of the parents of the team
    Good luck to each member of the team and we hope baseball will always be a part of their lives.
