Montgomery Qualifies For Melbourne City Council Race

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Michael J. Montgomery, a 14-year resident of Brevard county, has qualified as a candidate for the office of Melbourne City Council, District II.

This district is currently represented on the City Council by Mark LaRusso, who is running for Mayor of the City of Melbourne.

Montgomery currently serves on the Citizen’s Advisory Board and has done so for approximately three years. His slogan as he campaigns for the office of City Council, district II is “Making People Powerful” and he plans to do this in a number of ways including, but not limited to:

♦ The improved accessibility and accountability of local government officials. Montgomery will work to ensure that Melbourne City Council meetings are available to view online. He will also work to implement an ordinance that allows citizens to submit inquiries and items for discussion by the City Council via email, and other electronic forms of communication as he believes the absence of transportation should not hinder the voice of any citizen of Melbourne.

♦ An analysis of the Space Coast Area Transit public transportation system and it’s effectiveness in relation to the Citizens of Melbourne, FL. Michael J. Montgomery will work to ensure that more bus stops are sheltered and that buses run at more reliable and frequent intervals. He will work with the Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization to help this program reach it’s full potential in terms of convenience and efficiency and consequently ridership.

♦ The revival of the Eau Gallie Arts District. Montgomery continues to work with business-owners and residents alike, in an attempt to implement ideas that will stimulate the general environment of the Eau Gallie Arts District. He will continue to do so, until the the people of this community feel as though satisfactory progress has been met.
