Update: South Beaches Falls In Semis, Rockledge Plays Tonight

Winners Today Compete For Titles Saturday
BREAKING NEWS: Guatemala topped South Beaches/West Melbourne 5-2 Friday afternoon in the Senior League Baseball World Series semifinals in Bangor, Maine. The loss eliminated South Beaches/West Melbourne from contention for the Senior League Baseball World Series title.
TAYLOR, MICHIGAN – Rockledge outlasted Eastern Regional champion Franklin Square, N.Y. 11-10 at Heritage Park on Thursday night to lock up first place in the U.S. Pool at the Junior League Baseball World Series in Taylor, Mich.

Rockledge raced to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning against Franklin Square and then added a run in the bottom of the 3rd inning.
The game turned into a see-saw affair when Franklin Square scored six times in the top of the 4th inning to narrow Rockledge’s lead to 6-5 headed into the 5th inning.
Franklin Square scored three times in the 5th inning while Rockledge only managed to score a run in the fifth with Franklin Square leading 9-6 going into the 6th inning. Rockledge then held Franklin Square to only one more run, while driving in five in the bottom of the 6th inning to retake the lead at 11-10.
Rockledge held Franklin Square scoreless in the top of the 7th inning to win 11-10 win and complete pool play with a record of 4-0.
Against Franklin Square, Drew Parrish was 2 for3 batting and scored two runs, while Mike Hall had a double and scored twice. Mason Studstill was 3 for 3 with two home Runs, a walk, scored three times and had 4 RBI. Trevor Payne also went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.
The Rockledge All-Stars advance to the World Series United States Championship game at 8 p.m. tonight against Southwestern Regional champion and U.S. Pool second-place challenger Oil Belt Little League of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Oil Belt fell to Rockledge 12-10 in the opening game of pool play.
The United States champion will play the International Pool champion (Mexico or Aruba) for the Junior League Baseball World Series title at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The final game will be televised live on ESPN 2.

Senior division
Like their Junior division counterparts from Rockledge, Southeastern champion South Beaches/West Melbourne cruised into today’s Senior League Baseball World Series semifinals by defeating Emilia, Italy 13-2 on Thursday at Mahaney, Maine.
Tyler Phillips had three RBIs against Italy for South Beaches/West Melbourne which tallied eight first-inning runs in the game, which was shifted to Mahaney when steady rain in Bangor forced Mansfield Stadium to be temporarily unavailable.
With the victory over Italy and a 9-1 win by Western Regional champion Lemon Grove, Calif. over Southwestern champion West University, Texas late Thursday night, the South Beach/West Melbourne All-Stars (3-1) secured second place in Pool B and earned a berth in today’s Senior League Baseball World Series semifinals.
As Pool B runner-up, South Beaches/West Melbourne will meet Pool A champion Guatemala (3-0) at 11:30 a.m. today at Mansfield Stadium.
Pool B winner Lemon Grove, Calif. (4-0) faces Pool A runner-up Grand Rapids, Mich. 2-2) in the other semifinal today.
Semifinal winners will play for the Senior League Baseball World Series championship at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mansfield Stadium. That game will be televised live on ESPNU.
