The auditorium is at 100 Mustang Way, off North Courtenay Parkway on Merritt Island.

A musical revue of America and its pastimes, the themed concert will feature music by familiar American composers Aaron Copeland, Morton Gould, Samuel Barber and more.

Vocalist Jeanie Black will perform the Sandi Patti version of The Star Spangled Banner, as well as the challenging Knoxville Summer of 1915. Popular bass Jim Boyles will narrate The Lincoln Portrait and A Day the Circus.

The musical ‘tip of the hat’ to American baseball, Pastime, by American composer Jack Stamp, was conceived of during a Giants’ game in Candlestick Park in 1998. Stamp incorporated actual salutes to specific players with musical figures in the measures corresponding to the player’s numbers.

Led by conductor Marion Scott, “A Salute to America’s Citizens” is free with no ticket required and no reserve seating.

The theme of the concert is to honor American citizens.

“This concert is intended as a salute to the lives of everyday Americans and the pastimes we’ve come to view as part of the American experience,” Scott said. “All of the music is by American composers. Some are patriotic pieces, while others represent the American people.  The concert also looks at America’s favorite sport, baseball and quintessential family entertainment, the circus.”

Formed in 1985, The Community Band of Brevard and its Space Coast Swing Ensemble provide six or more free high-quality public concerts each year. Musical selections include classical, jazz, show tunes, contemporary music, big band arrangements, and original compositions.
