Florida Tech Men’s Cross Country Finishes 11th at Mountain Dew Invitational

GAINSEVILLE • FLORIDA — Graduate student Chris Cacciapaglia recorded a top-25 finish to lead Florida Tech to an 11th place finish in the Mountain Dew Invitational at the University of Florida Golf Course in Gainesville, Florida.
Cacciapaglia crossed the finish line in the 8k race in a time of 26:03.55 to finish 23rd, tops for the Panthers. Junior David Boiywo ran a top-50 time of 26:52.13.
FIT ran an average time of 27:12.49 to place 11th in the meet comprised of many NCAA Division I programs. The Crimson and Gray finished among the top three of Division II schools. Only Florida Southern and Augusta State ranked higher, finishing seventh and eighth, respectively.
Race host University of Florida qualified five runners in the top 10 to bring home the team victory. Unattached runner Jeremy Criscione finished first overall in a time of 24:08.99. Embry-Riddle runner Evans Kirwa was the top team-points winner with a second place finish.
Florida Tech sophomores Justin McMaster and Ezekiel Zauner each recorded top-80 finishes, coming in back-to-back at 77th and 78th.
Next up, the Panthers turn their sights to the Saint Leo Invitational on Sept. 29. The race will be held at The Abbey Golf Course in Saint Leo, Fla. and is set to begin at 7:30 a.m.
