Man Shot Dead at Apartments Monday Night

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Investigators from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department are pursuing leads in the shooting death of a Cocoa man at a Merritt Island apartment complex on Monday night.

Evander Tinsely of Cocoa, 21, was visiting a friend at the Tropical Major Apartments on Jordan Road when he was shot and killed.

Lt. Tod Goodyear of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department said an autopsy on Tinsely was completed today and the Medical Examiner has determined the manner of death as homicide.

“Full autopsy results will not be available for at least six to eight weeks,” Goodyear said.

Investigators are still in the process of interviewing potential witnesses and following up on multiple leads.

Goodyear said that the investigation is ongoing and further updates will occur as new information becomes available.
