Florida Tech’s Ballweber Establishes Career Milestone

Records 1,000th Volleyball Kill

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Caitlyn Ballweber collected her 1,000th kill of her Florida Tech volleyball career Saturday afternoon during the Panthers’ 3-1 win over Webber International (14-9) at Sabbagh Gymnasium.

Set scores were 25-15, 27-25, 16-25 and 25-19.

Ballweber, a senior from Homer Glen, Ill., reached the milestone with her first kill of the match in the opening set. She finished with 12 kills and hit a team-best .444.

Janice Valies paced the Panthers (14-6) in kills with 14.Florida Tech’s Alexis Mastela served up 35 of the team’s 48 assists and had nine kills.

Sunshine State Conference’s digs leader Angie Lassman of the Panthers had a game-high 22 digs.

Also totaling double figures in digs for Florida Tech was Charlie French with 16, with Mastela with adding 13 and Erin Hughes with 10.

FIT dominated the net as it recorded 18 total blocks, including 16 block assists, to the Warriors’ seven.

The Panthers will travel to No. 2 Tampa on Tuesday for a SSC match at 7 p.m. They will then return to Melbourne for their final three home matches of the season starting on Friday against Eckerd at 7 p.m. at the Clemente Center.
