Panthers Aim To Move Up At St. Leo Invitational

DADE CITY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech’s women’s golfers shot a team total of 319 to open up the Saint Leo Invitational at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City on Monday.

The Panthers’ 31-over-par opening round left the team in seventh place heading into the final round Tuesday.

Senior Jessica Hook led the way for Florida Tech with a six-over-par 78. Hook shot a 39 on both sides of the course to finish round one in a tie for 17th.

Freshman Felicia Leftinger used a 41 on the front nine and a 38 on the back to come in one stroke behind Hook at seven-over par, putting the first-year in a tie for 22nd.

Rounding out the scoring for the Panthers was sophomore Rachel Polson and senior Karisma Smith with a score of 81 each. The two sit in a tie for 33rd.

The top of the team leaderboard finds five Sunshine State Conference teams. Lynn used an eight-over-par 296 team total to lead the pack. Nova Southeastern sits four strokes behind at 300. Saint Leo, Barry and Florida Southern round out the top five.

Nova senior Abbey Gittings and Barry’s Nicole Ferre lead the way individually, sitting at one-under-par.

The Crimson and Grey get back on the course for the final round of the tournament tomorrow morning at 8:15 a.m., pairing with Columbus State and Florida Southern B.
