BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Police in Palm Bay are hunting two armed home invaders who shot a teenager early Saturday morning.

Palm Bay Police Department spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez said detectives from Palm Bay’s Major Case Unit are investigating the shooting which took place about 1 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Whitehurst Road NW.

She said a 17-year-old boy was awakened by two black males wearing ski masks during the incident.

“The suspects disconnected the television as they entered the home in order to make sure it was completely dark inside,” Martinez said. “The male victim was asleep on the couch and when awakened one of the suspects pointed a gun at him and demanded all his personal property.”

Acoording to Martinez, the suspects then went into another room and stole a laptop computer and an X-box gaming system.

:As the suspects fled, they shot the victim in the buttocks area,” Martinez said.

The suspects fled out the back slider door and the victim crawled to a neighbor’s house for help. He is currently hospitalized in stable condition.
