The Majors Golf Club To Host 2012 ‘Cigars to Arms’ Golf Tournament Nov. 11

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Here at Space Coast Golf Magazine we not only publish a golf magazine but sponsor events from time to time.

Inspired by a letter to the editor from Eric Miner of Cape Canaveral, Florida about how soldiers overseas appreciated donated cigars, and being a cigar aficionado myself, well let’s say we were all over it.

I could just picture the faces and smiles of our troopswhen they open one of the many boxes of cigars we sent, and light one up for the Christmas holidays.

We gave it a name, “Cigars to Arms,” and started promoting.

Cigars to Arms” is a fund raising tournament designed to support the distribution of Christmas cigars to various Forward Operating Bases across Afghanistan for Christmas.

These soldiers are sacrificing their lives by serving our country under most adverse conditions.  Our cause was to raise the morale of our troops and salute those who have sacrificed for their country.

The response the first year we held this event was tremendous.  We managed to raise enough to send over 3,000 cigars to our soldiers overseas.  Along with generous donations, proceeds from the tournament and your support we managed to package and mail 250 individual cigar sampler packages with *Humidipaks and cutters to several outposts overseas.

We thank each and every one of you for every smile on every soldiers face as they sat back over the holidays with a Churchill in hand.

This message has gone out to my personal e-mail list and so that means we have been connected one way or another either in the golf industry or have met as friends….so friends, I am asking you to come support those who protect our country.

I can remember, ever too well, the small gift packages received while serving in Vietnam and how much I appreciated the thoughts and cares of those back home.

If it be a player, sponsor, or to donate a gift or a tournament prize, every little thing you can do will make a Christmas gift to our troops a success.

These cigars are one thing that can still be enjoyed by our troops.  We know our soldiers enjoyed lighting up on Christmas Day!

Thank you for your support!
