North Carolina Man Killed In Crash

PORT ORANGE, FLORIDA – A North Carolina man was struck and killed by a Titusville motorist on the interstate near Port Orange early Saturday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes said Arnold Keith  Key of West End, N.C., was positioned within the inside southbound travel lane of I-95 by State Road 421 about 2:28 a.m. Saturday in Volusia County.

Montes said Key, 64, had been ejected from a motorcycle involved in a single-vehicle crash minutes before and remained in the roadway.

A 2001 Toyota Avalon driven by Justin Andrew Moran of Titusville, 19, was southbound on I-95 in the inside lane.

“Key was attempting to exit the travel lane when the front of Moran’s car struck him,” Montes said.

He died of his injuries at the scene of the accident. Moran was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation and Montes said the Highway Patrol is awaiting the results of alcohol impairment tests for both individuals involved.
