BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – During the holiday shopping season, customers of Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Melbourne will once again have the opportunity to spread some holiday cheer and help a child learn to read.

Each year, Barnes & Noble invites customers to purchase a book that is then donated to Brevard Public Schools through Brevard Schools Foundation and distributed to the neediest schools.

Brevard Schools Foundation is coordinating the drive this year, which can bring in upwards of 5,000 books.

Customers may choose their own title, one suggested by Barnes & Noble, or one requested by individual schools.  They typically cost about $5.

“There continues to be a great need for books in our schools, especially for the lower grades,” said Janice Kershaw, Executive Director of Brevard Schools Foundation. “We appreciate companies like Barnes & Noble for encouraging community contributions that support literacy.”

Shoppers wishing to support the Holiday Book Drive by purchasing a book may visit the store at 1955 West New Haven Avenue in West Melbourne.

For more information or to donate financially, call the Brevard Schools Foundation at 633-1000 ext. 756.
