BCC Golfers In Tie For First At Alabama Tournament

FInal Round Of Play Set For Tuesday

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – BCC’s golf team finds itself faced with a familiar foe after Day 1 at the Central Alabama Community College Fall Invitational.

Once again it’s Central Alabama and BCC at the top, competing for the fourth time this season for a tournament title. The two teams are tied going into Tuesday’s final round, fighting through the cold and rainy weather, with a forecast for the final showing temperatures in the low 30s, with a high of 58.

At the Par 72, 7,100-yard course, both BCC and Central Alabama CC each shot a 303, while Cape Fear (N.C.) CC and Meridian (Miss,) CC enter the final round tied for 3rd with a score of 320.

BCC’s Arthur Leonard is tied for the individual top score, shooting a 71, tied with Central AL’s Alex Brownell. Andrew Klasing (CACC) and David Weeks (Jax State) tied for 3rd with a 72.

In addition to Leonard, BCC’s Blake Biggs shot a round of 76 (tied for 7th), while the Titans’ Anthony Skirk a 77 (T-12th), Nick Maynard a 79 (T-17th), and Kyle Benson an 80 (T-21st).

“The guys hung in there well today, and Arthur Leonard continued his good play during his freshman campaign,” BCC coach Jamie Howell said. “Central Alabama will be tough on their home course and each team would like to wind up the fall season with a win.”
