Squad Aims For National Championships In May
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Brevard Community College golf team finished the 2012 fall season ranked fifth in the nation in the Golf Digest/Nike Golf NJCAA Division I final poll.

BCC was ranked behind No. 1 Odessa, Texas, Central Alabama, McLennan (Texas) Community College, and Indian Hills (Iowa) Community College.
The fall season saw BCC record four second-place finishes — all to Central Alabama — and a third place.
Also, BCC lost to Florida Tech in the two-team Collegiate Players Cup tournament at Viera’s Duran Golf Club.
“The fall season was a wakeup call,” BCC coach Jamie Howell said. “Four seconds and one third-place are admirable finishes with the issue being we finished in second place to the same team all four times.
“The fall season provides an excellent opportunity to test the competitive capability of the team as well as recognizing what areas we need to improve, specifically putting and green side saves, as well as getting into the mindset of what competitive college team golf demands.
“As a team the chemistry of the guys is very good and that can only feed our work habits in practice and preparation. We are a competitive bunch and everyone is on board for our ultimate goal.”
Individually Arthur Leonard had a strong fall recording first-, second- and third-place finishes.
“Arthur has stepped up to the plate and recorded a first, second and third individually and is one of the top freshmen in NJCAA college golf in the nation,” Howell said about the freshman from Hockley, England.
“Our sophomores need to step up and make use of their experience and help us improve to compete for not only tournament titles but also our ultimate goal to compete for a national title in May in Lubbock, Texas.”
