Brevard County Fire Rescue crews responded to the airport at 900 Airport Road on Merritt Island about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday following the crash.

Apparently the Comp Air single-turbine jet flipped over while the pilot was trying to land at the airport.

Two men aboard the jet managed to escape the wreckage, but were soaked with airplane fuel.

Brevard County Fire Rescue crews assisted in decontaminating the men, who were then taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne for treatment.

The crash scene was secured and hazmat crews continue to work to contain fuel leaking from the plane, which sustained serious damage in the crash.

Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration will determine what caused the aircraft to flip and crash.
