TItans Feel They Have Legitimate Shot

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Following a sensational fall that saw the Brevard Community College golf team finish as the fifth-ranked team in the nation in the Golf Digest/Nike Golf NJCAA Division I final poll, BCC is taking aim at challenging for the national title this spring.

“The fall season was a wakeup call,” BCC golf coach Jamie Howell said. “Four seconds and one third-place are admirable finishes with the issue being we finished in second place to the same team all four times.

“”As a team the chemistry of the guys is very good and that can only feed our work habits in practice and preparation. We are a competitive bunch and everyone is on board for our ultimate goal.”

Howell said a talented group of freshman, including Arthur Leonard of Hockley, England led BCC in the fall, but contributions from sophomores will hopefully add to the mix this spring.

“Our sophomores need to step up and make use of their experience and help us improve to compete for not only tournament titles, but also our ultimate goal to compete for a national title in May in Lubbock, Texas.”

We sat down with Coach Howell sat BCC’s Spring Sports Media Day and had him access his team’s chances to win the national championship in 2013.
