Police Arrest Suspect Riding In Murder Victim’s Car

Homicide Investigation Continues

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Police officers in Melbourne have recovered a car belonging to murder victim Leah Yoresh and arrested one of the vehicle’s occupants.

Melbourne Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Sheridan Shelley said that on Thursday a Melbourne Police detective spotted the 2012 Hyundai Accent that belonged to the homicide victim.

Yoresh was found dead on Jan. 12 at her home at 1433 Albert Drive in Melbourne.

Melbourne officers were able to stop the vehicle and detain its three occupants without incident near a mobile home park at Eau Gallie Boulevard and I-95.

The three men found in Yoresh’s car were interviewed.

Shelley said that during questioning, probable cause was established to arrest Matthew Sharp for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle.

Sharp of 2160 Grand Teton Blvd. in Melbourne, 22, was taken to the Brevard County Jail and the other two vehicle occupants were released.

Names of the other two occupants are not being released as they were not charged for the stolen vehicle.

Shelley said that the investigation of Leah Yoresh’s murder is ongoing.
