Man Attempted to Flee From Custody

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Police in Cocoa Beach have arrested a suspect they say was responsible for a car burglary on Monday afternoon.

Major Jay Harmon of the Cocoa Beach Police Department said officers were called to the Cocoa Beach Surf Company at 4001 N. Atlantic Avenue at 2:50 p.m. Monday to a report of a vehicle being burglarized.

Harmon said a suspect, Nicholas Patrick Dunn of Cape Canaveral, 23, was detained upon police arrival.

During the course of the investigation, Dunn attempted to flee from officers and a short foot pursuit ensued.

Harmon said Dunn was subsequently taken into custody without injury after an officer successfully deployed a Taser on him.

Dunn has been charged with Burglary, Resisting an Officer, Theft and Possession of New Legend Drugs.

He was transferred to the Brevard County Jail on a $5000 bond.
