Detectives Probe Overnight Shooting In Palm Bay

Victim Treated For Gunshot Wounds
BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police Department detectives and crime scene technicians are at the scene of a shooting that injured a man overnight.
Palm Bay Public Information Officer Yvonne Martinez said the investigation began at 3:53 a.m. Saturday when dispatchers received multiple 9-1-1 calls from residents in the area of Mariposa Street.
The callers reported hearing gunshots.
Martinez said that not long thereafter, dispatchers received a call from the hospital reporting a male victim arrived in the emergency room with gunshot wounds.
According to Martinez, the shooting victim is a black man in his early 20’s.
“Detectives are in the process of identifying and interviewing witnesses and processing the crime scene for evidence,” Martinez said.
The condition and name of the victim is unknown at this time.
Martinez said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
