Merritt Island Mardi Gras Street Party on Merritt Island Features “Fantasy” Theme For 2013

“Fantasy” transcends Brevard on Feb 9, 2013 as the Merritt Island Mardi Gras Street Party lands at an all new and improved location, right in the center of Brevard County in Merritt Island, Florida.

FREE ADMISSION  – ALL AGES WELCOME

5 p.m. to late

“Thanks to our community sponsors, the Merritt Island Mardi Gras Street Party will be free for all – with no admission charge in 2013” said Giles Malone, committee member of the 2013 Merritt Island  Mardi Gras.

“The Merritt Island  Mardi Gras Street Party on Merritt Island is an opportunity for all Brevardians and visitors to gather together to celebrate Fat Tuesday – the traditional name for the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent – so it is only fitting that the event be FREE with no admission charge”.

Fat Tuesday is more commonly known as Mardi Gras, which is simply Fat Tuesday in French. It gets its name from the custom, in many Catholic countries, of marking the day with feasting before the fasting season of Lent begins.

Dress In Your Own “Fantasy” Costume

All people coming to the Merritt Island Mardi Gras are encouraged to dress with a “fantasy” theme to celebrate Mardi Gras.

Whether you wear your favorite mardi gras mask, shirt or full blown Mardi Gras costume, you will be a part of the Merritt Island Mardi Gras celebration.

Feast on Delicious Food & Drinks

The outstanding chefs at Mavericks are preparing some delicious and satisfying plates of authentic New Orleans style foods for the revelers to feast on at the Merritt Island Mardi Gras.

“We want people to be able to feast and celebrate Fat Tuesday N’Orleans style” said Nick Zervos partner with Mavericks Sports Grill & Bar on Merritt Island, which is the host location  restaurant for the 2013 Merritt Island Mardi Gras Street Party on the Merritt Island peninsular.

Free admission

There will be no charge for admission unlike the previous Mardi Gras Street party that was held in Cocoa Village.

“Our committee used to manage the Mardi Gras in Cocoa but we have moved our community street party to a better location in the center of Brevard on Merritt island. Thanks to our sponsors, we can provide this fun event without an admission charge to the people.

We asked the people and this is what they wanted…a free, fun community street party for all to enjoy”.
