Skyhoundz Prepare To Take Flight In Melbourne

Local Event Saturday At Wickham Park

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Expect to witness some unbelievable sights when the largest disc-dog competition series in the world arrives in Melbourne on Saturday.

The local championship for the 2013 Hyperflite Skyhoundz Canine Disc Championships will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Wickham Park.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. the day of the event.

There is no entry fee for competitors and admission is free for spectators. Novice and veteran competitors are encouraged to compete.

The first 25 competitors will receive a free official Hyperfilte K-10 Competition Standard flying disc.

Spectators are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Concessions will be available for purchase from Sunset Ice.

Contestants and their canine teammates will earn points for basic throws and catches, with bonus points for mid-air catches in the Distance/Accuracy event.

Skyhoundz welcomes mixed breeds as well as purebred dogs. Many of the canines expected to compete were rescued from local animal shelters or rescue groups. Athletic canines will be seen, literally, jumping for joy.
