Bicyclist Dies When Struck By Truck In Melbourne

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – A bicyclist was struck and killed Monday afternoon while riding in traffic near John Rodes Boulevard and Eau Gallie Boulevard in Melbourne.

Officer Matt Miller of the Melbourne Police Department said Timothy R. Bullock of Melbourne, 55, was headed west on the southern sidewalk of Eau Gallie Boulevard about 3:45 p.m. Monday.

As Bullock entered the intersection of Eau Gallie and John Rodes Boulevard, a 2009 International Florida Power & Light truck driven by Philip J. Lecklikner Jr. of Cocoa, 47, was attempting to turn right from northbound John Rodes Boulevard onto Eau Gallie Boulevard.

Bullock was struck by the truck and went under the vehicle.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue personnel.

Miller said the case remains under investigation.
