Suspect Fled As Alarm Sounded

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a daring tobacco store burglary in which a suspect attempted to steal goods and merchandise from a Merritt Island business.

Brevard County Sheriff Public Information Officer Maria Fernez said the burglary took place in the early morning of Feb. 18 at Buck’s Tobaccoria at 2425 State Road 3 on Merritt Island.

Fernez said the suspect is a white man about 5-foot-11 to 6-foot-1 with a slim build and short dark hair.

He was wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans and also wore gloves  and sunglasses to try to conceal his appearance.

The suspect entered the business by throwing a large concrete block through the front window.

When the suspect walked inside the store and approached the cash register, an alarm sounded and he immediately turned and fled.
